check out Mariners Inn on US 50. It is nice but not over the top. Affordable plates start at 16.95 for one entree and go to 22.95. The 17.95 plate is actually two entrees ( one meat, one pasta), salad, rolls and butter, 3 sides. Beer, coffee, pop, pretzels included. Plus tax and 17% service fee. I am doing that plate and to feed 250 people the reception total will be 5591.65, that is cheaper than any other place I have looked at by a couple thousand or more.

Hey everyone-
I would go look at Mariners Inn on US 50. I am having my reception there in October 2009. I have friends who have been there and the food is great. The place is affordable. I am doing 250 people at 17.95 per person, plus tax, plus 17% service charge for $5591.65. That is atleast $2000 or more less than any other place I have found. The general manager is Joan 513-941-8600. She is really nice. I asked her what I could decoration wise and she as long as ou don't use glitter everything is fair game. Also if there is not an event the night before you are welcome to come in and start decorating if you are doing things yourselves. If not they get there 5 hours before and you can get in then. There is no charge for decorating hours as I have found at other places just extra party time charge. There is a fire place. All the lights are on dimmers so the look can be romantic with the dimmers and candles.

Try looking at small venues-- parks are a good place to start depending on your size. They have small halls on parkweddings.com sites.
